Aleida van der Hoogte (pronounced Alay-da fon dare Hocht) was born in Amsterdam Holland. Aleida began drawing florals as a child and her capability was well developed by her early teens. Aleida van der Hoogte's contemporary work is a unique fusion of bold composition and vibrant colour and detail. Her classical work shows her Dutch Floral Masters influences.

Artists bio:
After showing her amazing aptitude for floral art at an early age, Aleida van der Hoogte was accepted for entrance to the prestigious Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten on the strength of that early portfolio. She studied at the Rijksakademie during the 70's. Aleida's early work sold then on the exclusive Prinzengracht.

Aleida admires and is influenced by the work of Dutch Floral Masters Rachel Ruysch, Willem van Aelst, Jan van Huysum and Gerard and Cornelius van Spaendonck.

Aleida is currently based in Australia's sub-tropical Queensland. While Aleida paints a range of subjects including portraits and landscapes, she is best known for her distinctive floral art. Her floral work includes two styles, one more classically influenced, the other and most popular, a fusion of Dutch masters detail and vibrant colour in bold contemporary compositions.

Aleida paints from live bouquets. These are sourced for her from throughout Australia, depending on season. Her preferred florist is staffed by internationally award-winning floral designers who have arranged the bouquets featured in Beyond the Vows (arranged by Shauna); Barts Peonies (arranged by Bart); and Garland with Tulips' (arranged by Marie)among others.

In other works Aleida has chosen to paint from 'loose' blooms or subjects in situ. The contemporary Twin Hibiscus and the classically detailed Lifecycle were each painted from flowers growing on location.

Lifecycle subsequently toured with a selection of Australian paintings chosen by the South Australian Museum for the 2006 Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize. The work showed at the South Australian Museum in 2006 before exhibiting at the High Court of Australia in Canberra and the Cathedral Room of ANZ Headquarters in Melbourne. Aleida's work has exhibited regionally in Australia in 2007 with further exhibitions scheduled for 2008.

Limited Edition Prints:
Limited Edition prints on artists linen canvas are available of selected works. Editions are of an unusually low number even by traditional standards, to encourage investment potential.

Each Limited Edition is signed on the front by Aleida van der Hoogte and numbered on the back. A Certificate of Authenticity, named and numbered to match the print, also signed by Aleida and sealed with her unique family seal verifies each print as a genuine, signed, Limited Edition.
