Veiled Innocence is based on a photograph by Peter Morneau taken for a Justina McCaffrey Haute Couture advertising campaign. I immediately fell in love with her sweet, gentle face. The bold contrast between her soft, pink lips and her dramatically made up eyes was so striking to me that I couldn't resist painting her. Veiled Innocence was the first painting I did on Canson MiTiente paper. I chose the colour rose to compliment her pale complexion.
