Nevis, near St. Kitts, is one of the few Caribbean islands that has a rain forest on it. There is a wonderful B&B in Nevis called “Golden Rock Plantation Inn”. Pam, the proprietor, was kind enough to connect us with a local who collected orchids. “Nevisian Nymphs” was inspired by one of the many beautiful orchids he was growing. It never ceases to amaze me the bounty of surprises that flowers will show you if you just stop and look closely. It was the orange speckles on one petal that were highlighted by the dramatic light and shadows that convinced me to paint “Nevisian Nymphs”.
