Calla Choir

I first saw “Calla Choir” on one of my trips to Asia. The lobbies of most of the hotels there are filled with all sorts of wonderful flowers. These calla lilies were illuminated from above giving them an ethereal feeling with the light appearing to emanate from within the lilies. I’ve included blades of grass that are not indigenous to the lilies, but I think the thin lines of the leaves accentuate the lilies and add some movement through dashes of green and yellow. Periodically I ask flower lovers to help me choose which flower to paint next. “Calla Choir” is one of the flowers people voted for during the Portland Open Studios Tour in 2004. I hope you find “Calla Choir” as serene and beauty as I do.
