The first light of day holds so much promise. I painted 'Princess' to honor a very special friend, nicknamed Princess, who defied all odds when she overcame a brain aneurysm. She still lives life to its fullest. She embodies the first light of day'everyday! She is an inspiration to all of us to pursue the promise of life.
I saw the flower that inspired 'Princess' just as the light of day was breaking the horizon. The light struck the dew on her petals making the dewdrops glisten like diamonds. These beautiful Scaevola Aemulas (Australian Fan Flowers) were growing in a beautiful garden at Princess' parents' home just outside of Melbourne, Australia.
