Bruce is an Alberta born artist who is comfortable creating art from the easy undulating lines of the western prairies or complex architectural compositions such as the Alberta Legislature. The images that Bruce paints are of real places, captured first by camera lens and then recreated in the studio. He has always regarded himself fortunate to live in a country that has four distinct seasons and Canada's infinite beauty inspires and adorns most of his paintings. He generally works with transparent watercolor medium. Bruce takes his subject matter into careful consideration using a variety of self-taught and learned techniques. Salt crystals are used for sparkling water or flakes of snow. Wet on wet brushing method for soft pastel skies and the use of opaque paint such as acrylics to increase perspective.
He attributes much of his success and achievements to both his versatility and genuine interest in understanding his subject matter. Whatever the painting requires, Bruce is able to adapt and the result is always unique.
Bruce has been painting professionally for over 25 years and has shown solo and accompanied many artist friends in multi-medium shows. Limited edition printing Bruce has chosen the giclee' method for reproducing his original watercolor paintings as the replicates are much more accurate than conventional printing applications. The end product is a very close representation of the original artwork. Both originals and giclee' prints use only 100% acid free watercolor paper and the finest colorfast printer inks. You can contact Bruce directly through email.
