So my resources came from the library and any other books and videos I could get my hands on. So this is when I found Bob Ross. At first I thought, 'Wow! Big hair', but after watching his videos I really started to figure out the concept of what he was teaching. I needed a bigger brush and a bit more courage. As my old art teacher used to tell me, "Don't worry, it's only paint!" So I really jumped out of my comfort zone, bought a BIG brush from the hardware store, cut a large piece of hardboard and made the biggest mess I've ever made. Up until this point I had only been doing small 8x10 portraits with small ¼" angle brushes and fine liners, so I sure had a lot of fun with a 2" brush and a 26 x 32 board, someday I hope to paint this one again! At the ranch, we used to have many long and cold winters. For fun, we used to ride our horses bareback through the deep snow. The trails were just like fresh powder upon a ski hill and the only noise you heard was the silence of the crisp winter wonderland surrounding you while the frozen breath of the horses drifted into the air and wrapped around you. It was truly magical moments and at times, rather mystical.
