When my kids were younger, and still even now, we would all go to Riverside Park in Kamloops, to play in the Water Park and then go down to the beach to play in the sand and of course I've always been there with my camera. So, after much research on new painting techniques, and an assortment of different book references, I set out for a challenge. I also chose a very limited palette, my 3 primary colors, and courageously went to work. In no time at all this stunning original "Water Babies" came to life. I just love to watch how children find so many ways to explore with the most simple things and then come back so amazed and joyful with their new findings. The water has so many reflective and intriguing qualities that capture your eye and what fun it is to simply bury yourself into the coolness of the sand and quietly listen to the gentle lapping of the waves upon the beach. To then add the pure laughter of a child brings a smile to anyone's soul. I entered this original piece of artwork into the Kamloops Community in Bloom Arts Festival, this summer of 2006, and it defiantly caught the attention of many, and was given many wonderful comments from 20,000 the spectators that came that weekend.
