My friend Dee raises Morgans, and since I was raised with Morgan horses myself, I didn't hesitate when she asked if I would take her Morgan gelding "Bear" for a few weeks to help her out with his little problems. He is a breathtaking color, a deep rich, mahogany black, Morgan gelding…. Oh what a beautiful site! I really enjoyed playing with him for the few weeks that he was with me and I learned so much from him. Morgans are such a proud breed, very similar to that of the Friesian and Andalusian. I spent one evening just being with him, just spending undemanding time with each other and I managed to capture his fleeting beauty as he effortlessly drifted through our field as though he was floating on air with the sun setting behind him. Needless to say, I was very excited that I had the advantage to have my camera with me that day! Once again, I wanted to capture the atmosphere and the feel of the moment. I did this painting of the Morgan gelding in combination with the equestrian original 'The Golden Filly' and I am so excited with what I have been able to achieve. I have had many comments about this piece and I never really realized the full impact of its stunning glow until after I framed it and saw it from a distance.
