Whistler's Charm

This is the backyard view of Whistler, one of the most sought after places in the world. People come from all over to enjoy the awesome splendour of this gorgeous mountain retreat. This painting represents a typical view that residents and tourists encounter while staying in Whistler. Before starting this painting I made several sketches. After completing the enlarged version, I reworked it several times. There are several reasons for this. My primary reason is that nature is beautiful on its own and I wanted to capture that beauty on my canvas. The details, lighting and mood must be just right to bring the chickadees to life in their natural habitat. Chickadees are some of the most intelligent and friendly songbirds. Their appearance brings joy to the heart. Here in my painting, they are perched on a silvery birch tree with its peeling white bark. When you see them in a place like this and hear their cheerful sounds, you will be surely charmed. I have tried to recreate this beautiful moment in my painting to share with you and I hope it will bring warmth and joy to your heart as it does to mine.
