The family wanted a painting that was about the innocence of childhood and the wonderful world of reading. Denyse painted their son surrounded by books, with Kyle being absorbed in the story he is reading. The presence of the fairy, being his only light source, reminds us of the magic of the imaginery world's we can enter when reading.
