Biography Her Portraits, whether of a whimsical toothless child or a CEO of a major corporation, capture the essence of that individual. She tries whenever possible to spend time with the subjects of her portraits and observe how they interact with family, friends, and the world around them. She then transforms the emotions and personality of the individuals into canvas keepsakes to be treasured for years to come. Her talent is not restricted to canvas portraits. You could walk into her murals and join the world that she has created. One of her most coveted murals entitled "So Much To Discover", painted in 1993, is still pleasing pedestrians, drivers, and travelers from all around. It stands proudly at the top of the Broadway bridge in Saskatoon. Born and raised in Saskatoon and living on the same street where she grew up, Denyse is very proud to call Saskatchewan home. Denyse sought out a mentor to teach her the intricacies of color theory and to expand her knowledge of painting techniques and mediums. Over the next five years, this talented female artist became a friend, painting, and business partner of Denyse's.
With the loving support of her husband, her two girls, family and friends, Denyse has devoted her life to art and creativity. Her natural tendency toward entrepreneurship and her constant thirst for learning as resulted in a diverse portfolio of art. Her work has taken up residence in almost very province in Canada , as well as locations in the USA , Hawaii , Europe and Australia. Denyse has recently finished a very exciting contract for the Deerfoot Inn and Casino in Calgary , Alberta . Denyse was selected to create over 40 canvasses to be hung throughout this exciting new facility. The hotel also showcases a print of her artwork in each guest room. From portraits to murals, these creations are sure to please hotel patrons. Denyse has also recently illustrated GET A BIGGER WAGON written by Maureen Haddock. This book contains 25 stories about the adventures of a spirited and entrepreneurial little boy growing up in the 1950's. When she is not painting, Denyse often explores other mediums to express her talent. In the late 90's she sculpted pewter jewelry for both Disney Canada and The Body Shop Canada. During this time she ventured into an imaginary land of little people called The Belly Button Buddies. The whimsical paintings of children began to evolve when she met writer-performer, Nicole Haddock. This concept has developed into a product line that includes books, CDs, a video, live performances and much more. The paintings that Denyse creates for this project have brilliant color and thick rich texture. They are sculpted on canvas.
