Ed Eaton
Hi There, My name is Ed Eaton. Thank you for visiting my homepage! I was born in York, England in the late Sixties, and loved drawing and painting from an early age. After gaining a degree in Art & design, specializing in 3D Illustration and Animation, I held a number of jobs including modelmaking for film & TV. I then moved into Horology (the art & science of clocks & watches) studying in both the UK and Switzerland. Following this, I worked for a number of years in the centre of London, restoring antique timepieces. A move to Calgary, Canada in 1999, forced a drastic career change and so, in the closing weeks of the 20th century, I learned how to use a computer. I now work for a local company producing photorealistic, computer generated images (renderings) and animations of office interiors. I use AutoCAD, Photoshop & 3DS Max. For around the last 5 years I have been producing abstract digital artwork in my spare time, using the same programmes. Once you get over the initial "mystery" behind computers, you can use them as a tool just like a paintbrush - the big difference being that you are not constrained by the laws of the real world. More recently, I have been concentrating on mixed media collage and assemblage work, producing abstract compositions from found materials. I missed making stuff and getting my hands dirty. I rarely plan out an image beforehand, often getting inspiration from found objects and the world around me. Even with my digital work, I will often scan in an object to incorporate it into an image. My dream? Like many artists, to be able to support myself & my family through my art and quit the day job. Maybe one day! All of my work is available in print form, just drop me an email for details. I also welcome feedback (good and bad) and I am always happy to answer questions and explain my working methods so again, just drop me an email. I have a large number of images on my website at www.edeatonart.com. Thanks again for visiting and enjoy the rest of your stay on ArtInCanada.com!
