Biography

Elisabeth Littomericzky was born in Vienna, Austria. She discovered she was interested in more than designing clothes while attending Schloss Hetzendorf School of Fashion Design. That broader interest laid in creating scenes of colours, shading, and detail; works of art. At the time, she did a lot of drawing, mostly using pencil and crayon. When she realized her interest for art, the Vienna art circle had great artists such as Rudolph Hausner and Ernst Fuchs.

A special friend and student at the Vienna Academy of Arts inspired Elisabeth for her love for detail. His name is Gottfried Helnwein. However, even there are idols of great artists, she is a self tought artist, trusting in her passion for colour and beauty of simplicity.

1976: I stayed in a village in the Swiss Alps near the French border, where I learned the art of country style painting on wooden panels, and how to refinish and restore old furniture. The media used was water based colors.

1977: I came to Canada and got married. I was totally restricted and had to work as a waitress.

1979: I had my first child, Philip, in Montreal.

1986: Finally got a divorce and started over. After living in Montreal since 1977, I moved to Vancouver. It has been my home ever since.

1991: I had my second child, Christian, in Vancouver.

1993: I completed a ten month fashion merchandizing course at John Casablanca's College in Vancouver. My teacher in illustration, Mrs. Judy Pearson, encouraged me to study art. As a mother of two boys who was working full time and finishing my diploma, I couldn't study on. However, I did start to paint again and work on my own projects. I also worked on some fashion designs, but my main love was art.

2000: I designed and painted three doors on wood surfaces. Some of their themes were: Adam and Eve, Sunflowers, Tulips, Wine Garden, Fisher Boy, and "Reigen" (round dance). These doors are currently in a friend's house in Whistler, and give the country home a nice touch.

2002: I painted natural sceneries and flowers. My main focuses were Stanley Park, the ocean, and really anything which inspired me.

2007: Exhibited art in Stanley Park, and became a member of the painter's circle.

2008: I'm working on my latest piece, "Spring in the Park". It is almost done.
