Ellen Cowie
The artist of record for the person in uniform.

ELLEN COWIE was invited by York Regional Police to create a painting for their 30th Anniversary that took place in January of 2001. With your organization's written permission, ELLEN COWIE will create an original oil painting that displays your uniform in a locker setting. The subsequent limited edition prints become personalized originals as the artist is able to add a post-print addition of an officer’s badge number or name directly on the uniform. This concept is a unique morale booster and offers you an opportunity to mark special occasions and pay homage to both the Service and the individual. The oil painting and prints of "the uniform in the locker" speak to all uniformed members of a specific Service by appealing to all members regardless of gender, age, or race.

ELLEN COWIE is also able to incorporate subtle images of badges of the Forces which may have amalgamated to become the current Service. In the Peel Region Police oil painting, Ellen added five past badges while for York Region Police Ellen added fifteen badges; Durham has seven, and Ottawa four. ELLEN COWIE's legal artwork is meticulous in its representation of each Police Department.

The two images above of the Chatham-Kent Police Uniform give an idea of the personalization available. The LEFT side is the original print which is created without badge numbers or insignias. The RIGHT side has been personalized with a number, chevrons and crown on the shoulder strap.

In addition to limited prints for police services, Ellen was chosen to do a print capturing the Canadian Firefighter Combat Challenge in 2002, which she titled "The Toughest Two Minutes in Sports".
If you have an idea for a uniform in a locker, Ellen Cowie may render an artistic interpretation that the entire team will treasure.
