Denyse Klette![]() |
Portrait and mural artist, Denyse Klette, has an amazing ability to capture life's many pleasures in her paintings. She transports us to time of wild abandon, quiet contemplation, belly laughs, and smiles. To witness her creations is to get lost in lighthearted brush strokes and a love of all that life has to offer.
Her Portraits, whether of a whimsical toothless child or a CEO of a major corporation, capture the essence of that individual. She tries whenever possible to spend time with the subjects of her portraits and observe how they interact with family, friends, and the world around them. She then transforms the emotions and personality of the individuals into canvas keepsakes to be treasured for years to come.
Her talent is not restricted to canvas portraits. You could walk into her murals and join the world that she has created. One of her most coveted murals entitled "So Much To Discover", painted in 1993, is still pleasing pedestrians, drivers, and travelers from all around. It stands proudly at the top of the Broadway bridge in Saskatoon.

Gayle Kohut![]() |
My husband and my family farm and ranch east of Didsbury, Alberta. It is this life and all its miracles of nature that give me my inspiration for my paintings. I like to portray the details of agriculture, rural people, livestock, and wildlife for other people to enjoy and appreciate. Over the years I went to several workshops and have been fortunate enough to learn from Didsbury Artist Joyce Mullen the techniques in many different mediums such as from pencil, pastel, pen, and ink oils and watercolor. Bronze Sculpture and acrylic Artist Diane Anderson introduced me to gouache painting. I have participated in numerous art shows and sales in Alberta and have won many Peoples Choice awards and Best of Show in my local town. |
Lisa Kozokowsky![]() |
Her iconic work pushes the boundries between traditional and the contemporary abstractive landscape. An inspired student of Turner, her visions are thick and atmospheric; full of colour and movement. This energy bursts through Kozokowsky's rich abstractive landscapes, creating powerfully intriging works that float between contemporary and historic painting styles.
Kozokowsky's oversized canvases in a combination of oils, metals and encaustics portray western images. Her inspiration for her uniquely "wild woman" style is drawn from the rich colors and gold leaf of the Canadian contemporary landscape, as well as the rich natural resources of our own topography. |
Norm Krogstad![]() |
I have been drawing most of my life, and I have always enjoyed it. I experimented with painting when I was sixteen, but found I enjoyed drawing more and went back to pencil and paper for several more years. As a nature lover, I have been fortunate to be able to travel extensively in the Beautiful Northern Country of Saskatchewan. I have always liked to be out in the wild, the lakes, trees and animals have always been very special to me, and as an artist, my inspiration!
When I travel, camera and sketch pad in hand, I see hidden details, the awesome power of nature providing me with an unending story to tell.

Marc LaCaille![]() |
Canadian artist Marc LaCaille's artwork is often described as evocative, bright and colorful -a feast for the eyes and soul. It is the expression of a moment, an idea or an emotion through the constant exploration of lines, forms and colours. It is the constant pursuit of a delicate harmony between the subjective response and the internal structuring of an object, a person or a scene. The structure of the painting is as important as its content. Lacaille's signature style is personal and authentic. It is the result of research, experimentation and, like the artist says, the intense winter light of the North. Solid composition and a unique way of combining colours characterise Marc's images. |
Gena LaCoste![]() |
Using vibrant, strong colours that evoke the motion and essence of herds, dust swirls, the bunching of horse muscles, Gena's art pulls the viewer in and evokes memories. Gena sees her art style as representational. "I love it when the picture I have in my mind comes out as a painting, not like a photograph." Yet, birds framed against stormy skies or strutting across farmyards seem as if they will come off the page. Flowers in Santa Fe, roosters in Canada - her art brings them to life.
Her work appears at poetry gatherings, horse shows and stampedes. Private shows have ranged from galleries in New Mexico to Western Canada. Her latest art shows include the Medicine Hat Cultural Centre, the Medicine Hat Museum and Art Gallery. Collectors from Great Britain, to the southwest corner of the United States, and Canadians from British Columbia to Ontario have purchased her originals and prints. The Alberta Foundation for the Arts has some of her originals in their collection. A Gena LaCoste original is a delight. Her painting is full of life - prairie life! |
Patrick Landes![]() |
Patrick Landes seeks to accurately portray the visual language of open range, good horses, smart dogs, tough cattle, and even tougher people: an environment that is now all but lost. His portrayals, of the color, tradition and romance of the contemporary west, are certainties in description couched in artistic probability.
Painting full time, with work now hanging in both private and corporate collections, Patrick is motivated by horizons limited only to the scope of his imagination and hard earned miles of firsthand experience. |
Shannon Lawlor![]() |
Having spent the formative years involved with horses on many levels, this in turn has evolved into the ability as an artist, to capture her subject matter as it appears in reality. Infinite moments of real life experiences are seized in her own unique interpretation using primary acrylics, oil and graphite. Brush mileage and continuously honing her skills and techniques contribute to the ongoing passion of striving always to reach new and greater heights of professional achievement. Furthermore, the study of reality and subject matter lends itself to the structure, depth and detail found in her pieces. The great appreciation she has for her subject matter is evident in each of her carefully rendered pieces. Having had the opportunity to spend time with some of the top artists of today, also contributes to the body of work she is now creating. |
Brent Laycock![]() |
Canadian artist, Brent Laycock, has devoted a lifelong career to understanding and interpreting the Canadian landscape. His paintings in watercolour and acrylic find a resonance with many people because the work communicates the feeling and power of the landscape in a way that goes beyond representation. The most satisfying reward is knowing that people perceive the emotional communication in his work. One person commented "When I look at your paintings, I hear music." Laycock was raised on a prairie farm near Lethbridge, and it was here that he learned to love the expanse of the prairie sky with the Rockies on the western horizon. After receiving an MFA in painting at Brigham Young University in Utah, he returned to Calgary where his artistic career has unfolded. |
Doug Levitt![]() |
Doug Levitt has devoted himself full-time to fine art, oil paintings and graphite drawings being his preferred mediums. His historical works seek to preserve moments from the native North American Indian way of life and to explore themes of the West. These graphite drawings and oil paintings reflect Doug's passion for authentic detail as well as drama and texture. Doug's contemporary works, comprising mainly portraiture in oils, are compelling human studies characterized by skillful evocation of light and shadow, texture and detail.
His paintings are gaining wide attention for an artist still young in his career. Top collectors have bought his works and his paintings are in collections as far away as Australia. He has received invitations to attend several prominent exhibitions in Canada and the United States in 2004. |
