Donna Wilson![]() |
Born to a third generation Alberta Ranching family, Donna Wilson has a strong affinity for the people and animals that live and work in this environment.
She has continued to work with cattle and horses throughout her entire life, and spends a great deal of time enjoying the native wildlife that lives in the area. Most of the subjects of her sculptures are people and animals that are a part of her everyday life and she accurately depicts the individual characters of each. While living and working close to nature and on the land, she has developed a deep appreciation for the people and animals in her environment. She is careful and observant in the detail of each individual making sculptures that are not only life like but accurate. Those persons who enjoy western art will like this artist’s depictions of the characters that live and work in an increasingly threatened way of life. |
Bram L. Wolf![]() |
Canadian artist Bram L. Wolf lives and works in a horse farm area of southern Ontario. He spent most of his early life in a small ranching community in the West. Working and living among farms and ranches gave him a great respect for the working cowboy, the great romantic figure of the North American West. Most people don't realize the long hours and hard work that is required of the men that choose this life style. Dust and sweat is their constant companion not to mention the brutal winters that some of them endure. They are definitely the backbone of the cattle industry.
Other subjects that Bram likes to paint include the early trapper or mountain man, the Native American and wildlife. His favorite horses are the Quarter horse and the Mustang and his favorite dog is the Australian Cattle Dog (Heeler). |
Susan Wuthrich![]() |
A favourite quote "The artist does not see things as they are, but as he is." Susan's rural life certainly emerges in her art, which portrays a sense of peace and tranquility with her surroundings in the beautiful Peace River Country. "I would classify my art as realism but at times I like to throw in some impressionism with the colors that I use. My focus in each painting is to capture a lasting mood. My subjects range from landscapes, florals, nostalgia & wildlife. I have always been one to explore new ideas and things so this is why you see such a diversification in my subject matter." |
John Zacharias![]() |
"If my work can evoke one emotion or a slight awakening in just one viewer, then I have been successful as an artist. I believe that art is a visual account of one's experience's. My goal is not only to paint a visually attractive picture, but also to allow the viewer to relate to the image before them. From the inception of a new work through to the end, I develop abstract elements (such as positive and negative shapes) to create a pleasing composition. Everyone has their own way of seeing the world; I am just painting my interpretation of it." |
Michele Zarb![]() |
Beyond technical ability, Michele feels an artist's biggest challenge is to evoke emotion. To capture a fleeting moment or mood, involving the viewer in more than a photographic translation. She mixes traditional subject matter with non-traditional style and flair. Her work offers a wide range of media that knows no bounds, captivating the imagination and delighting the sense of sight. Michele's diverse work portrays the full range of human emotion, from thoughtful quiet images to vibrant, colorful, and exciting portrayals.
In addition to painting, Michele has been teaching art for over 10 years. She encourages each student to find their own way of expression, using an individual approach to meet each student's needs. She gives demonstrations and workshops for many art clubs and associations throughout southern Alberta. |
