Irene Clarke![]() |
I have a wide variety of interest but always come back to the Paintbrush. My paintings are mostly imaginary unless I am doing a commissioned work. I take a lot of photographs and look for scenes that are silently sitting there wanting someone to discover them. I might start my painting from something in a photograph or an idea but from there on the painting creates itself. You may, find a wild animal roaming about in my paintings. I really enjoy creating my own scenes from my imagination, allowing me to modify my painting as I desire as opposed to painting from a picture. This lateral shift has further sparked my creativity and I hope to create more imaginary scenes and expand my skill with animals. |
Ed Cleave![]() |
Canadian artist Ed Cleave was born in Port Alberni, B.C. but has spent most of his life near Vancouver. Throughout this Canadian artist's life he has been interested in art and has in more recent years had the opportunity to spend time doing what he has always wanted to do - express himself artistically . Although Ed Cleave has used various art media and art subject matter, his favorite medium is watercolours and his subject matter rustic, nostalgic art whether they be old car paintings, train paintings or sawmill equipment. Canadian artist Ed Cleave has had showings of his artwork in a number of venues and his paintings are in various parts of the world. He starts every painting with the idea that this might be the perfect painting. Of course it never is, but he tries to learn from each painting and apply what he has learned to the next one. |
John Cloutier![]() |
The artist's ceramic method is Raku, an ancient Japanese art of firing which produces sculptures with unique glazes and a characteristic black clay body. "I love the spontaneity of the medium, the combination from delicate and sophisticated to rough and primitive - all within the same piece. When you fire a piece, you never know how it's going to turn out." The works of ceramic artist John Cloutier have become a focal point of major exhibitions throughout Western Canada. John has been seen for many years in the Artists' Pavilion at the Calgary Stampede. John's work was seen recently at the Hambleton Galleries in Kelowna, B.C. He has done a number of commissioned pieces for various individuals and organizations. |
Ken Cochrane![]() |
Ken feels deeply for what he calls the "gems of the west" by which he means the mountain and marine landscapes its wildlife and the ranching lifestyle. He took to expressing in paint the wonders of his experiences some thirty years ago. As his experience is wide, so his artistic genre is multi-faceted. The knowledge he has acquired throughout his life's experience is inherent in his art. Ken paints full time and is an "active" member of the federation of Canadian artists. He has been awarded all top three placings including first place at the annual GOABC (Guide Outfitters Association of BC) Wildlife Art Competition, Victoria BC over the past six years and was accepted into the prestigious Calgary Stampede in 2005. |
Gina McDougall-Cohoe![]() |
C.N. (Chunky) Woodward purchased the very first bronze sculpture made by Gina in 1970. It was a cutting horse in action called "Showdown". Gina's bronze sculptures are now worldwide. They are in the collections of the British Royal Family, the Crown Prince of Jordan, western singer Randy Travis and Prime Minister Brian Mulroney to name just a few. Gina was commissioned to do the official bronze for the 1988 Olympics. Over the years the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede has used numerous sculptures as trophies.

Marnie Collins![]() |
Marnie's love of Canadian landscape was fostered from an early age by the majestic mountains, rivers and lakes of Quebec. She was born in Montreal and spent some of her favourite times in the Laurentians with her sisters and brother.
Her formal education in art and teaching was centered on colleges in Lancashire, England, the University of London, and Europe's greatest galleries. Marnie's acrylic artworks feature a variety of subject matter; floral landscapes, children, wildlife, and scenes of Canadian heritage. She is noted for her strong sense of colour and attention to detail. |
Catherine Compton![]() |
As an artist living and working in Kelowna, B.C., surrounded by some spectacular scenery, there is no shortage of subjects to paint; but a gift to a family member started me down the pet portrait road and I have not looked back. There are huge numbers of pet lovers, "owned" by their furry and feathered friends, who truly cherish these companions. My greatest challenge is to capture that special expression or pose forever on canvas, as a keepsake or to be given as a wonderful gift. We never disappoint and your satisfaction is our goal. |
Paul Constable![]() |
Paul Constable is a Canadian artist from Saskatchewan. His work varies in subject from figurative to landscape, often with a theme in mind. Rich oil paintings convey a unique view of land as a flowing, moving body similar to the ocean. His Rock Island series drew inspiration from rocks that farmers pick off their fields and then pile up in one place to form an "island" in the middle of the field. The only landmark for miles under the prairie sky, Constable paints them during different times of the day and seasons. He also explores a West Coast theme, and his figurative themes include the farmers market and the winter carnival in Saskatoon, exploring a sense of community on the prairies through the seasons. Constable studied at the Alberta College of Art and Design and presently lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. |
