Natalie Rostad Desjarlais![]() |
Canadian artist Natalie Desjarlais works exclusively with nature, specializing in stone that has been shaped by the elements, wind and time. Primarily an art form of spirituality and interpretation, the stones Natalie has worked with become singular art pieces, or collections of related works. Natalie uses her own carefully prepared paint that she makes out of crushed rock and oxides to coax the already present images from the stone. The content of the paint binds permanently to the surface, becoming part of the stone and is often difficult to distinguish from the actual stone. Powerful imagery is only surpassed by the interpretive spirit of the stone, with healing, balance and wisdom of nature conveyed through the stone to Natalie's messages that are included. |
Don Martin![]() |
In the summer of 2001 I was invited to have a solo exhibition at the Icelandic Emigration Center in Hofsos, Iceland. This was my first solo exhibition and a long-held dream come true. The exhibit was on for three weeks and was very well received by the local population as well as summer tourists and was 70% sold out. For the last ten years I have taught the beginners acrylic class at the Gimli Art Club and I am currently serving as Chairperson of the Gimli Public Art Gallery Committee. The mandate of this Committee is to operate the local Gallery and to promote the appreciation of visual arts in our community. |
Kim Penner![]() |
Canadian artist, Kim Penner, finds continual inspiration for her beautiful acrylic paintings from all types of horses. From her "Seeding Thoughts", a horse portrait of a team of Belgians, to her "Kentucky Quintet", inspired from the paddocks of a Kentucky Thoroughbred farm, Kim Penner's artwork offers a surprising diversity within her chosen genre.
Canadian artist Kim Penner shares how horses become a part of family memories through works like "Harvest Time" and "Rocky Mountain Serenade". Horse lovers and art collectors are investing in Kim Penner's original artwork, limited-edition prints and canvas transfers at shows from Calgary at the Calgary Stampede to Florida. Her art studio is in her 75 year-old farmhouse near Glenboro, Manitoba. |
Marijo Readey![]() |
The landscapes and images of the northern United States and Canada inspire my painting and my photography. Because I was first trained in etching, drawing and in painting, the compositional influences and the methods of that training spill into my photography. Some of my work is strict, nature photography. At other times, I start with a photograph, and I then manipulate and abstract the image through a series of filters and mathematical transforms to express some emotional or spiritual state that I perceive as contained within that image. |
