All my life I have been intrigued by nature and the vast variety of subject matter that is everywhere to be found. I have always been fascinated by how nature changes with every second of the day, and with wildlife, their unique and instinctive personalities have always mesmerized me. I can watch storm clouds on a summer night or the animals that reside near our acreage for hours. Even though I wasn't painting at the time, the visions were permanently instilled in me. I have now discovered that I can bring these images to life on the canvas. This was the spark that ignited my thrill of painting and how the magic of simple brush strokes created everything I had imagined. Every artist thrives on passions and obsessions. Bringing to life an expression in an animal or establishing the intimate mood of a landscape is my passion. When my painting starts to come to life and I can feel the texture and envision the illusion of light, the excitement to finish the painting erupts. My love for nature and art combined has helped me generate this unique realism into my paintings. |

Norene Procter |
She individually hand paints on 100% white silk using artist brushes and silk dyes. The silk is then wrapped, and steam set for close to 2 hours. This process sets the dyes making the silks washable. The artist has gained international recognition with her picturesque images. Among her clients are the Prime Minister's office, CBC, and the Mayor of Calgary. Her works have been well received as unique Canadian gifts. She has gained international media attention. But Procter, who makes a living painting silk wall hangings, scarves and fashion accessories around the world, says even then it didn't occur to her to create a sideline business making doggie coats for other people's pets. It seemed like a silly idea at first," says Procter. But after getting into it, there's no looking back. She purchased tons of fabrics with xmas images, wildlife, country scenes, brightly coloured plaids, fishermen, bikers, psychedelic floral prints!, and much much more! |

Being equally proficient in oil, watercolour and pastel allows her to be a versatile artist and teacher. Her professional accomplishments include the founding of Airdrie School of Art, co- founding of The Airdrie Artisans Holiday Market and Airdrie Regional ARTS Society.
She has participated in numerous group shows, as well as solo exhibitions. Her work can be found in many private collections throughout North America, Europe and Australia. She travels extensively through Russia and Stan countries, China, Vietnam, Australia and Mexico. Kim W. Rose has exhibited at Trail's West Gallery in Calgary, Alberta and at End of the Line Gallery in Cochrane, Alberta. Kim participated in Winter Show '88 at the Calgary Olympics. More currently, Kim has exhibited in the Prairieland Exhibition Summer show in 2002 and 2003, winning the Multicultural Best-in-Division Award. As a member of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Artists Association, Kim has received numerous awards. Kim's work was on display at the Gallery on the Bridges in Saskatoon in 2003. July of 2004 brought Kim a First place ribbon in the watercolour class at Calgary Stampede's Western Showcase of Arts. He also received a third place ribbon in division for wood carving. |

John loves to paint. Period. He simply loves to paint. He has many other interests but painting comes first. He prefers to capture what he knows and will do extensive research, both outdoors and in his library to create a mood, a moment. He began painting full time 15 years ago and credits his popularity to several factors. Primarily, he sets a goal for each piece, and until he's absolutely satisfied, it's just not finished. Despite that, John completes about 30 originals every year and issues several limited editions. "Equally important", says John, "are my collectors, painting as a career requires enormous sensitivity to their observations, if they no longer appreciate, or can't afford your work, the circle is broken. I admit, I paint primarily for myself but there is so much satisfaction and reward in completing a painting and knowing that someone will want to take it home." ..... and the circle continues. |

I utilize an impressionistic style in creating my oil paintings of rural scenes and the mountains.
A second passion of mine is photography and driving the backroads of Western Canada looking for old farm buildings, animals and beautiful landscapes. My paintings are referenced mostly from own photos. I attempt to feel my way through each creation and am known for my dark backgrounds and bold focal points. Sharon Strand Sigfuson |
Saskatchewan heritage and portrait artist, Sharon Strand Sigfuson spent many years painting wildlife and wildflowers. For the past ten years the artist has studied and developed her first love, the rendition of portraiture and human form. History was always a second love and the artist combined these two interests to create a series of nostalgic heritage works depicting rural life and farming with horses from the early 1900's to the mid 1950's. These compositions were developed from a combination of memories plus family and archival black and white photos. Color reference for these works came from many excursions with her camera into the surrounding countryside to capture the (light of the day), which varies from season to season, day to day and hour to hour.

The leather I use is Italian kid skin which comes in a wide variety of brilliant colors that are key to my design ideas. Experimenting with different leathers, patterns and hardware I forged a new medium to apply my artwork. I created two different hand bag styles. One is executed in the same manner as making a cowboy boot top. The other is a dainty hand held bag with a fifties feel. I am mostly inspired by traditional and retro cowboy and western themes as well as cocktail nation kitsch from the Eisenhower era. You can contact Kerry directly through email. |

In the summer of 1999, The Calgary Stampede set out to find a sculptor to create a monument that would add the finishing touches to the new 30 million dollar expansion of their Trade Show & Convention facility known as the Roundup Center. Linda Stewart was selected from among 40 artists and commissioned to create a sculpture that would portray the ranching tradition of Alberta. The Life-size bronze sculpture depicts a typical ranching scene. The casting was completed June 5, 2000 by Bronzart Casting of Calgary. The Sculpture is aptly named "ROUNDUP" and it now stands at the front entryway to the new Roundup Center on the grounds of the Calgary Stampede. You can contact Linda Stewart directly through email. Diana Cumberland Stupniski |
Canadian artist Diana Cumberland Stupniski was born in Saskatchewan and was raised on a small farm in Alberta.
She paints with a limited color palette of black and white with sepia overtones; which lend her works an old world look. A longing for the life values and ambience of ages past motivates the artist to create these images. Diana creates a window to a previous age, when the pace of life was simpler and slower; when people appreciated each other above all else. She introduces a style of painting uniquely her own for nostalgia fine art collectors around the world. Her work has captured attention from movie productions, antique enthusiasts and dealers alike.
