Born in 1951 near Athens-Greece amidst a large family with different interests in life. During elementary school years he started practicing with water colours in facial or basic natural elements. Art was obvious in other members of his family tree and by early age George Likakis' natural path was evident. His initial art work graced many Athenian school classes. The next 25 years he travelled widely and his experiences are reflected on his canvas with unusual oil strokes. He studied naval architecture and he was a very accomplished draughtsman producing large naval drawings. George Likakis though had the need to return to Oil & Canvas in blend with nature and the elements surrounding this field. Due to his diverse career and busy life style he never went back to oil-painting until a few years ago but his style attracted many collectors in no time. George Likakis has completed special photography classes, seminars and studied the old masters techniques.

His paintings are filled with natural images mostly from Canada and the vast Greek open seas as well as from other parts of the world, deriving from his own photography, something that he takes pride in.

George Likakis remained productive and created numerous natural pieces, he painted scenes of the open fields, beautiful unusual colourful skies, cypress trees, open seas, light houses, nude anatomy, Irish gardens, and the vast rustic life characteristics of the northern regions.

George Likakis, been a living artist, finds his art form as a tremendous inner exposure of his own world and a strong expressionism towards the human ability to capture art in a deeper vision. Currently he works right from his private studio in Ontario Canada. If you happen to be in Toronto area do not hesitate to call George Likakis for a private viewing on available pieces. (please notify by email) In addition George Likakis has an unusual skill to produce, upon special personal order, an original oil painting from an old picture of your country memories, an old country scene, home or whatever that may be out there as long as it is nature related. It will be an original piece made just for you! George Likakis never reproduces his work therefore every piece will remain original through time.
