It's about preserving what I see and remembering the earth and its micro environments as being true in color. Landscapes have been painted forever. Prairie Images have been painted forever. It's about breathing new life into old topics. These are very common drive by images that get lodged into my mind or captured on my camera as I am driving by. I preserve them on canvas, with vivid colors as I want to remember them. The ability to use clean concise colors allows for a refreshing look at the Prairies. Each painting shares a distinctive attitude and presence as its common thread. I usually paint in series or theme as in this group of paintings the theme being about preserving the prairie image, one of my ways of going green. My Prairie has an abundance of color and is usually framed with trees. There is a bit of whimsy feel to the landscape. If you flip my coin I go from landscape of the western prairie to the cityscapes of the western prairie. My images remain vivid with color; they become even more whimsical in appearance. These prairie cities are not flat and dusty. The common threads of my cityscapes are my tapioca skies. I was born 1961 in Humboldt Saskatchewan; I am predominantly a self taught artist presently based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I have been gifted with supportive family and friends who encourage me to stretch the boundaries always pushing the brush and the imagination. At Present the majority of my work is with acrylics on canvas. My work is represented in private, public and corporate collections. Recently, selected pieces have been purchased and are the property of the Legislative Building, Regina Saskatchewan.
