My early years were spent in the Dunbar district. After I married I moved to North Vancouver and have been here for 48 years.
My teachers at school were always very impressed with my drawings and paintings. I later won Honorable mention and several awards for my artwork.
When I was married my husband bought me a set of oil paints Those who saw my work would ask, are you an artist?
My inspiration comes from the beautiful flowers in the gardens and those in the California Desert.
I have studied under Irene Poskett, Gertrude Keen, Frances Lansbery and the
Dutch painter Fred Shaeffer.I have been a member of the West Vancouver Sketch Club for many years. After my husband passed away in June 1998 I dropped out of the meetings. My paintings have been hung in several locations around Vancouver including: I am presently studying under Jean'ne Brooks School of Art, and enjoy her classes very much. My painting has been a wonderful life for me, without it I would have been very lonely. I am currently taking commissioned pieces, please contact Joan Nicol directly. |
