Biography
Karin Taylor was born in Holland, she and her British husband spend 15 years working and living in countries like England, Egypt, Holland and Indonesia.
Karin began painting wildlife watercolors in Holland. After emigrating to Canada in 1997 she also started painting in acrylics on locally found river rocks.
In 2002 Karin came across an -even more unusual- medium for her wildlife art: painting wildlife and other animals onto wild turkey feathers.
"The many patterns and colors of the wild turkeys' tail and wing feathers make a beautiful and quite challenging canvas", says Karin, "painting wildlife (in acrylics) on these feathers is by far the most difficult art form I have ever tried - there is no room for mistakes because the delicate feather structure does not allow any drawing or repairs. It is a very rare and rewarding art form."
Karin participates in a number of art shows each year, among them the Calgary Stampede Western Art Show.
In 2005 she participated in the Wildlife Mosaic Mural in aid of Canada Parks and Wilderness Society. She has just finished shooting a tv special about her feather art which will air all over North America by Home and Garden TV in the winter of 2007.
