Title: Footprints, Japan, 1996

I know you may think and insist that these are sculpted rather than what they simply are, footprints in the sand. If you look closely, and alter your preconception, your eyes will show you the truth behind this image. My eyes see the optical illusion too yet I know the opposite wins this one.

I took this photo of my footprints in the sand in Toyama, Japan, on Mizuhashi, Water Beach. I remember feeling amazed by the heat of that mid-October day, a high of 25 c. Being a westcoaster, it was shocking to be barefoot, enjoying the spongy sand as the tide receded and then swimming to relieve the heat in October.
