Born in 1963, Lorne Sieben began his life in the city of Edmonton, Alberta. The city life was short lived when his parents decided to move back to their hometown in Saskatchewan. He was one year old and ready for the wild life of the prairies. As a child he enjoyed the wide-open playground of the prairies. As Lorne grew older his interests diversified. Learning to play the bass guitar out of high school and knife making, which was to be the catalyst for his pencil drawings, were among Lorne's ambitions. "Well, I've never taken an art class, and drawing wasn't something that I was into as a youngster either. I was to full of energy to sit still long enough to draw. That's probably why I ended up in a rock and roll band out of high school." "My drawing came by the way of custom knife making. In an effort to beautify my blades I looked to engraving. Drawing designs for engraving slowly introduced me to larger scaled drawing."
"Fascination of the beauty and diversity in nature were always one of my top interests, biology being my best subject in school. I tend to lean toward wildlife art, but I will be diverse in my art in the future." Lorne has been drawing for 7 years and in 2000 he was invited to join the World Wide Nature Artists Group. A popular wildlife artist's site, a site that enabled the Great Ape Fund, www.great-apes.com to get in contact with him. He was happy to help out our closest cousins in the Animal Kingdom. Lorne has also been featured on the front page of the Wolverine Foundation, www.wolverinefoundation.org, a site that will introduce you to the meanest member of the weasel family. Lorne has won a few ribbons for his art and knives but feels more gratitude when people want to display or collect his art. His objective in nature drawing is to capture real nature scenes. He also plans on moving towards oil paint in the future. Be sure to visit Lorne Sieben's website to view more of his incredible pencil artwork!
