The incredibly beautiful little side trip from Jasper town site to Maligne Lake is enjoyed by millions of visitors every year. H.A.F. MacLeod discovered the beautiful lake and aptly gave it the native name meaning Sorefoot. Walking extensively off the developed trails, over the gritty surface of the limestone predominating around its shores will result in just that, sore feet but it's definitely not hard on the eyes.
