Lynn Hauer

Biography

I am the son of a man who drove a bus to the moon and back; he was on his second revolution. I am the son of a woman who seemed to stretch a dollar as far, while raising the children she loved more than anything else.

God has blessed me with a wife and baby boy. Our venturesome trio is a lighthouse keeper's family at inaccessible stations on the west coast of Canada; we are a lookout tower family in fiery northern Alberta. While still calling the city home, these perched realities contrast loudly with the screech of conurbation.

The past fifteen years has seen to an unpredictable marriage of medium, technique, style, and approach. "I love to explore many directions. It doesn't matter to me what method or media an artist uses; does the image stir anything up inside you? My varying style has found its way into different categories including: Visionary Art, Mixed Media, Creative Photography, and Christian Art. My works are often accompanied by writings, occasionally being born of my own hand."

"Lynn Hauer's works explore the poetics of allegory. His narratives, taken from various literary sources, are visually engaging and rich, while retaining directness and clarity. Conceptually, Lynn's work owes its heritage to the mystical illustrations of William Blake, the incongruous juxtapositions of the Magic Realists, and the clever transpositions of images by Jerry Uelsmann."
Professor Arthur Nishimura, University of Calgary, Department of Art
