Pictographs- Stone Paintings
The oldest form of art in history.
Now this ancient art has been transformed into a journey of spirit, a journey through the history of both the stone and the image found on its surface.
This series, "From Beneath The Surface", uses rocks generated from the crust of the earth, formed some 700-900 million years ago.
The stones follow the eternal Grandmothers wisdom. to allow oneself to be drawn upward. To be genuine, and strong against adversity, and to allow life to shape you to the beauty only known by the unseen core.
The strength throughout one's self and a stone are that which will determine their endurance and eventual outcome.
Revealed by the vanishing snow, coaxed skyward by the warmth of the sun, the Grandmothers seek to reveal their ancient wisdom, concealed, eternal in the journey from the heart of their Mother. To meet the sun and gain new life.
At the edge of a field of thorns, I waited...a heart of stone, lost among the layers of pain. Covered in blankets of bitter ice, to an escape of chosen depth. Forgetting to believe in the light that touched a part of me. Revealed only in part by a corner of my soul.
Seemingly powerless, I picked up a stone, and was magically empowered by her beauty and peace. Whispers in the darkness of my mind, a flutter of life, a flicker of hope, all rushing in to carry me until I could be strong on my own.
Asinew, Stone, share with me. the story of your scars, the pain and the the beauty of understanding their purpose, the healing found by your journey towards the sun. It has made you who you are, unique and special and strong.
Subtly, as if whispered from a poet among the stones, I learned about me, gentle reminders of the broken pieces of my life, needing to learn to walk among them, without blood from either side.
Lend me your strength as I seek my own, still buried beneath the surface, covered in sickness and decay.
She made no judgments as I wept upon her, allowing the tears to wash the surface, revealing the true characteristics of her spirit. I can only feel where your journey has been, a reflection of your memories remaining forever.
I seek shelter in the presence of the emerging stone, warmed by her contact with the sun.
Now I too journey upwards towards the sun, with it's healing warmth, eternally grateful for Asinew, who revealed themselves to me FROM BENEATH THE SURFACE
