Plein Air Art by Phil Chadwick
The Forest and the Trees
Oils on acrylic foundation commercial canvas- dark crimson red. 11 x 14 (inches)
Started Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

It was raining or at least moderate drizzle on Wednesday morning. I had no choice but to paint with shelter from the rain so I set up in Mary Lois Rennie's new screened in porch area. This view is looking north-northwestward through the trees at the water of Little Clear Lake. I started around 8:30 am and at times it was raining fairly heavily. The sound was really nice on the metal roof. This is one of my favourite sounds! I seemed to be on a "looking through the forest" motif and I was having fun with it. The title comes from my interest in painting both the forest AND the trees. I felt I could see the forest for the trees. I could even see the water through the forest. It was fun.
