Richard Wear

Biography

Richard Wear was born and spent an idyllic childhood in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan before moving to his current home in Edmonton . Richard 's lifelong passion has been photography , which is more than obvious when one views his unique and stylized work. His perfectionism and keen eye for lighting and minuscule detail allows him to interpret and capture the world in photographs which are widely recognized as exquisite pieces of art.

Prior to formal photographic training , Richard was self-taught . As early as age 10 he can remember taking pictures of the light and shadows of freshly fallen snow in a back alley. This youthful infatuation with images later prompted him to pursue a formal education in photography by attending the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, where he graduated with distinction.

In 2004, Richard captured top honors in the Nature category of Photo Life Magazine's International Contest. In 2003, he was named as Grand Prize Winner in The Canadian Geographic magazine's annual photo contest. Richard has also received various awards from Kodak as well as numerous professional photographic associations. His images are held in the collections of various corporations, galleries, and individuals around the world.
