Biography

I was born in Kelowna, B.C. and moved to the Peace River country, in northern B.C. when I was 2 years old and have lived here ever since. Always having lived on a farm has been very rewarding for me as I have had many opportunities to enjoy nature at its fullest and to absorb my surroundings in solitude. The rural life is so inspiring for an artist as one has many silent moments to embrace their thoughts and put them on canvas.

I have been painting for about 30 years now and have never looked back. My mother is also an artist and she was the one who inspired me to take up painting, which now is a love of mine and a passion that will never end. The mediums I use are acrylic and watercolors. I prefer the acrylics as I have more control but watercolors is a lot of fun and some of those "accidents" turn out real neat! I would classify my art as realism but at times I like to throw in some impressionism with the colors that I use. My focus in each painting is to capture a lasting mood. My subjects range from landscapes, florals, nostalgia & wildlife. I have always been one to explore new ideas and things so this is why you see such a diversification in my subject matter. I am a self taught artist and have only attended a few local workshops.

Freedom - By Canadian Aritst Susan Wuthrich You will notice that some of my art is framed in different types of frames, some modern and some antique. The antique frames are authentic ( not reproductions) and I purchased them on-line at Ebay. The nostalgic scenes are particularly enhanced with these frames.

I have had many art shows in this region and my paintings hang in many countries throughout the world. I have been featured in a magazine called "Farm Forum and also was featured in the "Sabine" on-line magazine.

One other form of art I do is painting on real gold pans. They come in different sizes and are a very popular item. This is a unique item and challenging to draw as the pans have contoured edges. You can view some of them on my web site.

Another passion of mine is photography. I have hundreds of photo's, some which I sell and some are reference material for my paintings. I am not one to paint on location and fight mosquitos and the elements. One of my photo's captured the hearts of some Vancouver judges and I won a trip to Las Vegas.

I have had a very busy life raising our 3 children and helping my husband on the farm. Last year we semi-retired and moved closer to town. Now I have more time to pursue my art and I have opened up an Art Gallery in my own home. I sometimes wished that I had more exposure for my art and the opportunity to go to art school. Being so remote has been a disadvantage in that aspect but the trade-off of the rural life has been more rewarding in many ways. About 3 years ago I got my own web site up and running and that has been a great experience. Not only have I given my art more exposure, I had to learn all about computers.

In conclusion, I truly hope you will enjoy my paintings as much as I enjoyed painting them.
