Biography

Most well known and recognized for her renowned reputation as a Prairie Canadian Artist, Yvette Moore's dedication, commitment and compassion are also extended to her city, province and country.

Located in Moose Jaw, Yvette showcases the work of her own as well as that of over 80 other Saskatchewan and Prairie Artisans at her very own, Yvette Moore Gallery. Since opening it's doors in March 1999, this former 1910 Land Titles building, has set a new precedence of an appreciation for art and a grand tourist attraction for the city. Hosting numerous events throughout the year, including Yvette's own annual art show, receptions, dinners and wine & cheese events for various tour buses, companies and groups, and the most popular Christmas in October, the Yvette Moore Gallery attracts visitors from all over the world. Yvette was awarded the 1999 City of Moose Jaw Municipal Heritage Award for Interior Restoration and the Saskatchewan Architectural Society's "Vintage Building Award" for Adaptive Re-Use for the work performed on the building and an outstanding contribution to the conservation of Saskatchewan's built heritage.

As a single mother of four, Yvette's personal and professional accomplishments serve as an inspiration and example to all who believe in themselves, their dreams and lot of hard work and perseverance. Upon the successful completion of "A Prairie Alphabet", Yvette was awarded the Mr. Christie's Book Award in 1992 for Best Illustration for Children's Books in Canada. Following the overwhelming response of this first book, Yvette went on to create "A Prairie Year", and most recently "Heartland- A Prairie Sampler" this past fall 2002. As well, personally appointed by the Honorable J.E.N. Wiebe, Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Saskatchewan to paint his portrait, Yvette notes this as one of her most rewarding accomplishments.

Shift Change - By Canadian Prairie Artist Yvette Moore Beyond the magical point of artistic realism of Yvette's paintbrush, she is also very actively involved in a number of various local and provincial communities: Past Director of the Moose Jaw Chamber of Commerce for six years, Director on the Moose Jaw Tourism Board, past director on the Heritage Advisory Council, on the committee of the Arts in Motion and a director on the South West Tourism Board. She is a Past Director on the Women of Entrepreneur of Saskatchewan. She was also personally appointed to the selection committee of the Saskatchewan Order of Merit by the Premier of the Province. Yvette believes that working to strengthen the ties and creating a synergy through business and tourism, she will be able to further her own growth as an entrepreneur, as well as provide more opportunity for others to benefit from the rewards of a stronger and more attractive community.

Among many other honorable recognitions and praise in the community, Yvette's commitment and dedication to Moose Jaw has rewarded her with the prestige of being named Citizen of the Year for 2000, as well as a finalist in the Saskatchewan Women of Achievement Award for 2000. Yvette was also awarded the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal for her dedication to the arts in 2002 and most recently Yvette was just awarded the Saskatchewan Tourism Award for Creative Excellence.

Yvette continues to find time to paint while managing and operating her very highly acclaimed Gallery in Moose Jaw. Yvette and the success of her business continues to climb through the efforts of herself, her staff, and most importantly two of her children that are involved full time in the framing industry and marketing of her products.
