Artists -> Diane Brazeau

I am a mostly self-taught artist from Ottawa, Ontario.  My whole life I have been captivated by both art and animals/nature, and by focusing on wildlife art I get to merge my two passions.  I dabbled with pencil and charcoal drawing, oil painting, and I trained in silversmithing at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco.  In my teen years I landed several commissions, but I ended up spending most of my career in information technology.  After some soul searching I recently decided to go back to my passions and picked up my paint brushes!

For the past year my focus has been on acrylics on canvas.  I strived to perfect my technique by taking a few courses and tutorials.  I started out with pet portraits to practice realism and fur painting.  In Realism, I am inspired by all the natural beauty surrounding us.  I have experimented with a few mediums to discover my style; realistic wildlife art in a nature setting with texture and abstract touches.  I love adding mixed media to a realistic piece!   And now I am excited to be working on my very first wildlife art series.

As a mother of two I want to teach my kids to pursue their passions, and the following quotes from Paulo Coelho inspire me to follow mine:  "You will never be able to escape your heart.  So it's better to listen to what it has to say", and "When you want something, all the Universe conspires in helping you achieve it".
