Carole Rodrigue The Best Game You Can Name

Inspired by Canada's love of hockey, vintage equipment, and the history behind some of hockey's changes throughout the years. The equipment was borrowed from friends after I had been envisioning this painting for about one year. The mask is similar to the second one Jacques Plante wore, so this piece became somewhat of a commemoration of an important development in hockey history. Each piece, except for the jersey, is vintage. The skates belonged to a friend's grandfather and are over 50 years old, as is the hockey stick. The leather goalie glove is from the early 70's. The mask was the most important part of the painting and therefore became the focal piece. It also is estimated to be over 50 years old. I plan on painting more hockey pieces as well as other sports still life in the future.
