Over the past 40 years, I have managed to keep painting in spite of the busy aspects of life; a husband, 2 children to raise and employment outside my home. Night school courses fit into my world, off and on, and include watercolor & acrylic painting, interior and landscape design. Art and appreciation of others' creativity has always been an influence in my life and several of my siblings,as well as my mother, chose art as a vehicle for personal expression. When we moved to Kelowna, I began a painted decor business and did some wonderful pieces of furniture, all of which found a good home. Time marches on, unfortunately, and my ability to handle armoires to small boxes marched with it. As a result, I was back to canvas; and decided to take part in a class of local painters, just to re-kindle an affection for the easel. That class and the comraderie of the group reminded me that, even tho' painting is a solitary career much of the time, the thrill of the "chase" to find that indefineable something that touches hearts, is a timeless endeavor. If one can pick up a brush, one can pursue the "joy". In an unplanned turn of events, a gift painting to a family member, of a much loved pet, opened the door to another way to touch people's hearts ..... the pet portrait!!! In my extended family, if you don't have a pet or you never had a pet, you've missed out on life!! None of us can imagine living without an adorable furry companion. Their devotion to the humans they "own" shines thru their eyes and to capture that love on canvas is my greatest challenge and the most rewarding. I need 2 or 3 photos of your pet, well detailed, with the head at least 2" tall, eyes clear and accurately portrayed; digital photos by e-mail are great !! Include any information about personality and mannerisms that you think would be helpful.Head and shoulders is the most popular pose, allowing for more close up detail but any position is fine. All photos will be returned with your painting. Please expect a richer and more glamorous painting of your pet, rather than a photo "blow-up". I like an 11"X14" stretched canvas as my standard but you can commission larger ( price to be determined) . All paintings are acrylic, sealed and varnished, unframed (no glass required). The price for "11X14" is $225.00 including tax: shipping cost according to your location. There is a $75.00 charge for each additional pet per painting. A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is required per painting and payable in advance, by money order or cheque. When the painting is complete, a photo of it will be sent (email is best) and the balance is due before the painting is shipped. Please allow 3-6 weeks from a firm order to receipt of your painting. Please call or email to request a special background, to include a toy or prop or just to ask for more information. Satisfaction is guaranteed. You can contact Catherine directly through email
